Re: [digital-photography] scanners & slr's
I make internegs from my slides I just get Inter negs made from all of my slides for my files some times it is easer to get a print in a hurry from a interneg than a slide. Is the best way to get the highest quality print from a slide is to make a E6 print, flat scan that to kodak and there they make it into a canvas print? What size print do you scan/ Or do you mail them a same size print? They only advertise a minimum 16x 20 print for $89.00. millcutte4 millcutter4 <millcutter4@yahoo.com> wrote: I have 25,000 slides and I sure am not going to scan all of them when I want a print form one of the slides I take it in and get a few prints I wend them to Kodak for canvas prints which sell very good I get at least $100.00 more for a canvas print than a paper and they only charge around $30.00 for a 11x14 and then I well it for $350.00 not to bad of a profit. Now I'm ready to get back into photography and have been lusting after a scanner for 2-3 yrs. Will a 4800 x 9600 scanner faithfully reproduce my 35mm K64 slides and asa 100 negatives? Game plan is to start printing up to 8 x 10 at home and using a lab for up to 16 x 20 for display at local shows, festivals, etc and placement in local galleries (of which we have many). Do I need to go to 10+ megapixel SLR to get the image quality I'm used to from my Canon F-1 or is the next step down suitable? I've never stopped seeing the world thru a lense, (my right eye still sees in Kodachrome, my left in Ektachrome) but have only spent a few hours seriously shooting in years. I paid about 1/3 of my college expenses with my cameras, landscapes, portraits, contruction progress work, etc and really want to get the right equipment to get back on track toward my dream of retiring into a life of photography. Any advice or suggestions to get me moving in the right direction would be appreciated 'cause I don't have the time to start researching cold.
