Chris, Many thanks, I've seen the price of the FL-50 and over here in the UK it's even higher, as I said as a beginner I really don't want to be spending that kind of cash first time. I shall take a look at the Vivitar, It will probably help me learn more than having a fully automatic unit. Thanks again, Phil. The FL-50 is the best flash Olympus makes. That being said, with the dropping prices of the E-500 systems, you can easily spend more on a FL-50 than you would a second E-500 body. I felt I already gave Olympus enough of my money with a E-500 two-lens kit and the 18-180mm lens, so I opted for a Vivitar 285HV (actually two of them) for US$50 each, and haven't regretted that decision at all. Although they are not TTL, they are fairly automatic with a rather accurate sensor on them, so guesstimation works rather well.
